Santa CatarinaSanta Catarina is a city in the state of Nuevo León, Mexico. It is in the Monterrey metropolitan area and is about 15 kilometers southwest of central Monterrey. As of 2000, its population was 227,026. The name of this city comes from the Catholic Saint Catherine of Alexandria. The city of Santa Catarina was not "founded" in the tradicional manner, at the beginning was only a resting point for the travelers that make their trip from Monterrey to the City of Saltillo. The firs recorded name was "Estancia de Santa Catarina" (Shelter of Santa Catarina). |
